Barbara Jean Handy
Age 98, of Magnolia, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2024. She was born Sept. 26, 1925 in Mineral City, a daughter of the late Gomer and Ruth (Nelson) Jones, and was a life resident of the Mineral City area. Jean was a 1943 graduate of Mineral City High School. She had worked for The Timken Company, Federal Refractory in Mineral City, helped her husband at Handy Lumber and Excavating, and the last thirty years of working was as a bookkeeper for Handy Equipment Services for her husband. She loved being outside mowing her yard.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Blaine Handy, Jr., on April 8, 1994. Jean is survived by her son, Michael Handy, and his fiancée, Sharon Woodard; four grandchildren, Michele Handy, Raquel (Frankie) Borsellino, Jacqueline Hamann and Nick Darrah, and Matthew Michael Blaine (Sara) Handy; 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Pastor Keith Kull officiating. Friends may call Thursday 6-8 p.m. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Sandyville. Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
